Editor-in-Chief & Graphic Designer
Janelle is a senior English literature major in the honors program with minors in Spanish and environmental studies. She spent her summer in Kansas working as an editorial intern for Mother Earth News magazine which perfectly combined her love of the environment with journalism. She is currently an agate clerk at the La Crosse Tribune for the sports section. She hopes to pursue a career in journalism while maintaining her love for mustaches and bacon.
Jessica Schurmann is a senior studio art major with a psychology minor. Aside from working for Lumen, she is also one of the programming assistants for VU After Dark. During last spring semester, she studied abroad in Florence, Italy where she developed worldwide friendships, a greater independence, confidence and deeper relationships with her German relatives. Participating in the study abroad experience has also solidified her interest in pursuing student affairs and eventually working in university study abroad programs.
Kelsey Pruitt is the Lumen business manager for the 2012-2013 school year on top of her many other pursuits; she is one of two Peer Advisors for Clare apartments and is in her senior year of nursing classes. Kelsey calls Chippewa Falls, Wis. her home, but she can do a great Minnesotan accent.
Arts and Entertainment Editor
Molly Grosskreutz, arts and entertainment editor, is another returning staff member from right here in La Crosse, Wis. She studied abroad this summer in Lorraine, France. She is a senior liberal studies major with emphases in English writing and French. The summer before going to France, Molly was in Los Angeles as an intern for Escape Artists Entertainment reading scripts. After college, Molly hopes to become a screenwriter.
Valerie Groeber is the arts and entertainment assistant editor for the upcoming school year. She is a sophomore English major from Minneapolis, Minn. She is new to the Lumen team and devotes her free time to traveling.
Joycelyn Fish, from Reedsburg, WI, is excited to be entering her senior year at Viterbo as Lumen‘s campus life editor. With a major in organizational communication and minors in English writing and business administration, Joycelyn finds herself involved in many campus organizations. She can’t wait to share the great activities and events on campus with the Viterbo community.

Howdy Ho There! Jessica Hartling hails from Waukesha, Wis. and is a junior biochemistry major who has been to Disney World 7 times, does not have an appendix, loves Harry Potter (who doesn’t) and collects Precious Moments.
Jordan grew up in Cashton, Wisconsin, which is about 30 miles southeast of La Crosse. Prior to Viterbo, he completed beauty school and spent a year working as a hair stylist. The industry was not what he expected, so Jordan decided to enroll at Viterbo University. Recently, he declared English as his major.
Dani will be a senior this fall at Viterbo University majoring in visual communications with an emphasis in digital media. She was born in Richland Center, Wis. as the youngest of 5 children in my family, who have inspired her love for the game of basketball. Sports are her passion, and she hopes in the near future to be working in the sports broadcasting industry.

Melissa is from Marshfield, Wisconsin and is a junior English education major with a psychology minor. This is her first year on the Lumen staff. She’s very artistic and loves to paint, draw and play the piano. She also LOVES being outside and playing sports. Fun fact: She ate over 9 jars of peanut butter last school year.

After brief stints in the biochemistry, theatre and education departments, Tim diverted his interests towards the humanities and has been an English major with a writing emphasis since his sophomore year. He participates in many on-campus groups and organizations, including WHIL, NSLS, Final Edit and Platinum Edition, and he will be a Resident Assistant for the 2012-2013 year as well as a Viterbo Voyager and columnist for Lumen. He aspires to attend comedy school and MBA School in the years that follow his undergraduate career.
