With March Madness quickly approaching, the Badgers men’s basketball team has put themselves in a winning position in the Big Ten conference with only three games left in the regular season. The Badgers are currently ranked No. 19 in the AP Top 25 Poll, making them the lowest-ranked Big Ten team that is actually ranked; however, they are third in the Big Ten with a better record than seventh-ranked Michi¬gan and No. 18 Ohio State.
As of Sunday, Feb. 24, the Badgers are two games behind No. 1 Indi¬ana and one game behind fourth-ranked Michigan State in the Big Ten with a record of 10-4 and 19-8 overall.
Earlier in the season, the Badgers defeated the Hoosiers in a thriller 64-59, making Indiana their second home.
According to The Associated Press, “The Badgers are the first team since 1923 to win a fifth consecutive game in Bloomington, matching a record achieved only three other times…and they still have not lost to Indiana coach Tom Crean since he arrived in Blooming¬ton in 2008.”
On the other hand, the Badgers lost to No. 4 Michigan State earlier this season in a closely contested game, 49-47. They will have a chance to revenge this loss when they travel to East Lansing, Mich. on March 7.
The Badgers finish up their regular season playing Purdue on March 3, Michigan State on March 7 and Penn State on March 10.
